Food waste is one of Malaysia’s biggest environmental challenges. Each day, tons of it end up in landfills, contributing to harmful greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and lost resources.

QuinTerra is tackling food waste by combining bioconversion with aquaponic regenerative farming. Through this approach, they transform discarded food into nutrient-rich fish feed while growing fresh produce - creating a greener and more sustainable future.

Born within SEEd.Lab - an incubator programme for social enterprises powered by PETRONAS and Tata Consultancy Services - QuinTerra is paving the way for a future where waste isn’t just discarded but repurposed into resources that nourish both our planet and people.

Meet Wafiy, the 22-year-old Chief Technology Officer (CTO) of Aqufish, who is leading the development of Aqufish’s AI-powered smart monitoring system that empowers aquaculture farmers with affordable technology to optimize feed and accelerate fish growth.

Beneath his reserved exterior lies a visionary mind, driven by ambitions to explore new ways of generating energy and create innovations for the people. Together with his co-founders, Aqufish aims to increase our aqua farmers’ revenue by 40% and push Malaysia’s aquaculture production to 958,000 metric tons by 2030.

At SAGE, Ummu channels her passion into empowering women-led households. By recognizing the often-overlooked value of sewing skills, Sagemaker Asia helps women create busy books inspired by Malaysian folklore - turning their creativity into self-reliance and cultural preservation 🌺

Full-time at SEEd.Lab and weekends with her dumpling business, ‘Oh So Dumpling’, her path hasn’t been easy, but it’s been filled with purpose!

From teaching Syrian refugee children to learning from her mother, who raised seven kids with unconditional love, Ummu reminds us that true impact is found in purpose, in lifting others up, and in having the courage to step outside our comfort zones 🥰

SOLVNEX, one of our Cohort 1 venture, has officially signed an MoU with the Employees Provident Fund (EPF) to empower gig workers through the i-Saraan program. SOLVNEX connects verified gig-professional talents to large corporations on freelance basis while adhering to corporate clients’ governance policies 🏦💼

This collaboration aims to open doors for freelancers and gig economy professionals to build secure retirement savings while enjoying additional government contributions.

For today’s #WinspirationWednesday, we’re celebrating @rootinmy and their milestone with Jabatan Pendidikan Negeri Selangor along with four Pejabat Pendidikan Daerah! 🎉

With support from @yayasanpetronas, they’re kicking off IMPI - an initiative designed to empower our national special needs educators. Through this project, Sejolly will train 60 teachers and 120 parents across Selangor, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to better support neurodivergent children in their development 💪🏼

As the winner, they will represent Malaysia at the ASEAN Circular Economy Forum 2024 in Bangkok and compete in the 5th KOREA-ASEAN Business Model Competition for SDGs 2024.

It was an absolute pleasure to host the Cambodian delegation at SEEd.Lab, a group of influential individuals in their country’s social enterprise space. To name a few, we had representatives from Swisscontact, Cambodia University of Technology and Science, Enterprise Vision Academy, Phum Impact Battambang and Impact Hub.

We also introduced our Cohort 3 social enterprises and exchanged insights about the Malaysian entrepreneurial ecosystem. This visit went beyond sharing knowledge - it was an opportunity to connect with changemakers who are driving impact in their communities.
